The American online magazine Salon named the winner for the best description of sex in literature. First place was given to James Hines for an excerpt from the novel "Next" (Next). Completely vanquished the text can be read in blog dedicated to премиум Salon. Total jury chose the eight best scenes. In second place was the description of sex in the novel by Jonathan Franzen "Freedom" (Freedom), third in Joshua Ferris's novel "Untitled" (The Unnamed). Also among the authors of the best sex scenes were Jim Carroll, Jillian Weise, Jennifer Gilmore, and other writers. All prize winners – American writers. The jury chose the scene only of those novels that were published in 2010. None of the novels are not translated into Russian. The prize for the best description of sex was presented for the first time. The jury included the American literary critic and writer Maud Newton, Walter Kirn and Louis Bayard and Laura Miller, Salon journalist. Selecting winners, the jury was guided by criteria such as beauty of language, persuasiveness, and originality. Prize for the best description of sex team magazine decided by analogy with the prize for the worst description of sex, which is annually awarded since 1993, the authoritative British magazine Literary Review. It is planned that Salon magazine award will be awarded annually.
