In Finland, on Friday ended with the court case on illegal immigration, people from Chechnya, Interfax reported, citing chairman of the Antifascist Committee of the country by Johann Beckmann. One of the defendants in this case is 26-year-old Abdulhamid Mechiev, changed his name to Denis Berkat. He is the brother of Chechen rebel leader Shamil Basayev, liquidated in 2006. On the relationship only became known during the trial. Another defendant – the editor site "Kavkaz-Center" Michael Storsho. According to some reports, Storsho also is a sponsor of this site. According to the investigation, about a hundred people from Chechnya illegally remained in Finland during the trip from Turkey to St Petersburg. Some of them subsequently received a residence permit. The court's decision will be known only on May 9. Beckman said that the process was in Swedish – native language Storsho that may favorably affect its fate. At the same time, the unfavorable outcome for the accused indicated by the fact that virtually the last moment to participate in the court declined to key defense witnesses – Chairman of the Subcommittee on Human Rights of the European Parliament Heidi Hautala and former chairman of the Finnish PEN Yucca Mullin. As previously reported, in relation Storsho in Finland also prosecuted for participation in the activities of terrorist groups, insults and threats.
