1.5 thousand people in the Dominican Republic became ill with cholera

The total number of infected in November 2010 exceeded 1.5 thousand. In a statement the Ministry of Health Caribbean country pointed out that preventive work to prevent the spread of cholera will be strengthened throughout the state. In recent days, there were registered 65 new cases. According to official data, in the neighboring republic of Haiti, located on an island with the Dominican Republic, since mid-October of cholera has killed more than five thousand people. It is believed that the appearance of disease in the country resulted in pollution of the rivers of South Asian strain of the type of infection.
