72166097 Ethiopia bought two hundred Ukrainian tanks
Ethiopia's Ministry of Defence signed with the state company Ukrspetsexport contract for supply of 200 main battle tanks, Interfax reported. The deal amounted to about a hundred million dollars. Details of the agreement were not disclosed, it is only known that the technique will be transferred to the customer with upgraded power-plant-control system, weapons and armor. According to a source agency in the Ukrainian defense industry, most likely it is to supply the Ministry of Defence of Ethiopia, one of the modifications of the T-72. At present, Ukraine produced T-72E/E1 tanks, T-72MP, T-72-120, T-72AG, T-72AMG and T-72UMG. It is not excluded that Ethiopia has signed a contract to supply T-72E1, which are equipped with engine capacity of 1,050 horsepower, the ERA, "Knife", fire control and air conditioning. Contract with Ethiopia was one of the largest export agreements concluded military-industrial complex of Ukraine for the past eight years. Currently Ukrspetsexport has a portfolio of export orders of around one billion dollars. Earlier it was reported that the Thai government decided to purchase from Ukraine an additional batch of 121 BTR-3E1. The sum of the potential transaction valued at $ 130 million. In March 2011 the command of the Army of Thailand has announced its intention to acquire one hundred (for other information, two hundred) Ukrainian T-84U "Hold."
