The earthquake at the depth of 100 km and the epicenter was located on the east side of the strait Vries separating Etorofu and Urup, ITAR-TASS. From the epicenter to the nearest village, town Kurilsk on Iturup, about 150 km. According to the local seismological, tectonic impact on the inhabited islands of the Kuril chain was not felt, no tsunami threat.
