All subjects were transferred to Christie's for auction in person Dmitri Nabokov, son of the writer. Auction scheduled for June 13. «Christie's is pleased to announce that this wonderful collection was sold before the auction to a private collector. It has enormous cultural significance, and the chance to purchase personal items from the Nabokov family was unique, "- said Christie's expert calving Sven Becker. According to him, the price at 500,000 pounds higher than the overall estimate for all lots. At the heart of the collection – pictures of butterflies, including the books that Nabokov gave his wife, Vera. Entomology was one of the great passions of the writer. In the first years of exile, he forced his hobby paid little attention, but after moving to America in 1940, the first permanent job, which he received Nabokov, became the position of curator of butterflies at the Museum of Comparative Zoology at Harvard University. Virtually every book or a postcard, which are put up for auction, there is a color picture and signature of the writer. Among the lots were also net for the butterflies, which Christie's estimated at 3-4 thousand pounds sterling, and a desk writer. Nabokov, for example, and Ernest Hemingway, has not yet moved to the typewriter, he wrote standing up, and therefore the table (estimate: 2,5-3,5 thousand pounds) was quite high. Two typewriters – with the Latin and Cyrillic – were also on display for auction. Another lot is associated with the writer – his chess, a very modest set of auction appreciated in 800-1,2 thousands of pounds.
