In Nizhny Novgorod, Volkswagen will produce three models: Skoda Yeti, Skoda Octavia, as well as the new Volkswagen Jetta, whose sales have not even started on the European market. Already in the fall from the conveyor GAZ will go first Skoda Yeti, just this year is planned to produce 800 cars of this model. From 2012 to begin preparations for the manufacture of a complete cycle (CKD), with the 4 th quarter of 2012 on the program CKD plant will produce about 20 thousand Yeti in the year. But the main emphasis will be placed on the assembly Skoda Octavia (annually 50 thousand cars) and the Volkswagen Jetta (40 thousand). The total investment in the project will exceed 200 million euros, said Bo Andersson. Including 85 million euros invested GAS remaining 115 million euros to build Volkswagen. The money will be spent on upgrading the factory capacity for production of cars, purchase new equipment and construction of new welding industry. VW cars will be assembled on the line Volga Siber (it was purchased from DaimlerChrysler). GAZ Siber released in 2008, but discontinued unprofitable production in October of 2010, as demand for an updated "Volga" was low – in 2009, descended from the conveyor 2,2 thousand vehicles, the plan for 2010 was increased to 5 Thousands of cars through the government program of recycling of cars, plus the implementation of a similar regional project. In this production capacity of 100 thousand cars per year, and now GAZ produces only commercial and light trucks. Volkswagen's plans to collect cars in Nizhny Novgorod became known last fall, and in February this year the parties signed a memorandum of understanding. As noted, the project will increase capacity utilization "gas" and attract new technologies; VW, in turn, will be able to quickly ramp up production in the promising Russian market. The German company already has manufacturing facilities in Russia – since 2007, it produces vehicles at its plant in Kaluga. After starting the assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod VW will continue to build in Kaluga, Volkswagen Polo sedans, and until 2013 – Skoda Octavia, told journalists yesterday CEO of VW Group Rus Marcus Ozegovich. With the release of production on "gas" at full power, in Kaluga will be issued approximately 50% of these vehicles, added the head of the Board of Directors of Skoda Auto Winfried Faland. In addition, in the future Kaluga plant can start assembling another model in a line of Skoda, and by 2018 production is expected to expand by a quarter – from 150 to 200 thousand cars per year. The level of localization of production in each of the collected at the "gas" models will be different, but the average over the next 2-2,5 years it reaches 60%, said executive vice president of Volkswagen Detlef Wittig. In Russia, for example, will be released punching details for the Nizhny Novgorod Volkswagen Jetta (for other models – imported). In addition, the Russian production will be interior finishing materials, tires, etc. VW also plans to create in Russia a motor factory, which in future will be able to supply engines for vehicles assembled in Nizhny Novgorod. Details of this project, D. Wittig did not disclose, noting that the construction of the plant is still under discussion.
