Medvedev: the growth of public sector wages should be continued

At a meeting with union leaders the president stressed that one of the main topics for the trade unions and the state is to improve the material conditions of workers. "We try to index the earnings of state employees, but to be honest, this is not enough. The government has to proceed from the realities in which it resides. Our realities, I would like to emphasize is not the worst – just look at what is happening neighborhood. Above the head can not jump, but on the other hand, the consistent increase in the welfare of those who work should remain a priority of the state and employers. Therefore, finding additional funds for these purposes will continue, "- said Medvedev. The state plans to index the wages of state employees from October 1, 2011 for a further 6.5%, and the payroll of public sector employees this year will be further expanded to 34.5 billion rubles. The President highlighted the problems of social security, and expressed hope that employers will be engaged in the restoration of social security to workers. As Medvedev said, "during the global financial crisis, many employers began to refuse to accede to the agreements that regulate social and labor relations." According to him, in 2010 and first half of 2011, the Health Ministry has received virtually 500 employers failure to accede to the agreements governing the social and labor relations at the federal, regional and interregional levels. "But the situation in the Russian economy has improved. And social security to workers may well be reinstated. I hope that this will happen in the near future "- said the president.
