Ayalon: Punish PA

If the Palestinian Authority seeks UN recognition as a state while ignoring requests to negotiate with Israel, Israeli leaders should take retaliatory steps, Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon said Wednesday. Ayalon suggested annexing major Israeli settlement blocs in Judea and Samaria as one such step. Israel should also weigh officially canceling the Oslo Accords, he said. Earlier in the day Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman warned Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu that if he does not take some steps to punish PA leaders for the unilateral move, his coalition may fall apart.
