FOWLER – It was just more than a week ago that Gov. Jerry Brown, preparing to plow through hundreds of bills sent to him by the Legislature, suggested he was looking forward to it. He likened the review to "archaeology … excavating the inner workings of Sacramento." But with a week of bills behind him, the Democratic governor sounds increasingly annoyed. "I don 't care whether it ' s the schools or the prisons or the energy or the water, there 's plenty to do if we didn ' t have another bill for five years, "Brown told reporters Thursday after a bill-signing event in Fresno County. "We have a lot to do, and I 'd like to get at it. And unfortunately, a lot of what I have to do is to try to understand and then sign or veto the bills.". . .
