Doug Schoen has an interesting piece at the Wall Street Journal today in which he writes that the occupy Wall Street Crowd does not represent wider America. He has access to a poll of the protesters, which shows some confusion among the group. For example, a near majority… support the Wall Street Bailout of 2008: Wall Street Bailout: Necessary: 49% Not Necessary: 51% Furthermore, half of them will vote for Obama. I suspect that the number is higher than this but the protesters are saying they’ll stay home to prove some point about being “independent” thinkers while marching in lockstep with fellow-protesters dressed as zombies. 48% said they’d back Obama next year. However, he does highlight one portion that is very instructive: Half (52%) have participated in a political movement before, virtually all (98%) say they would support civil disobedience to achieve their goals, and nearly one-third (31%) would support violence to advance their agenda.
