78595021 Turkey has stopped buying F 35 fighter jets
Turkish Ministry of Defense has suspended talks to buy a hundred fighter Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II, tells Defense Aerospace. The reason for this was the U.S. refusal to convey Turkey's source code software fighters, as well as codes of external control aircraft. In this case, the cost of new fighter jets for Turkey could exceed $ 16 billion because of rising costs for the program of development of U.S. aircraft. According to Defense Minister Vecdi Gonul, without source code Turkish engineers were not able to maintain the F-35 fighter jets, as well as make the necessary changes in the software. Special concerns of Turkey is the U.S. refusal to transfer the external control codes aircraft. Recall that some countries-F-35 customers, including the UK, insist on the transfer of source code software but so far unsuccessfully. In January 2011 it became known that the Turkish Air Force plan to purchase 116 American fighters. The Ministry of Defence planned to sign a contract for the purchase of a hundred such airplanes and enter into an option to supply another 16 F-35. Turkey is one of the nine participants in the program development of the F-35. Country – Partner program, in agreement with the United States must invest in the development of aircraft five billion dollars, and at its end to buy 627 planes.
