Advisor to the national security of the U.S. President Barack Obama, Thomas Donilon, has resigned. In this role, he will replace the current U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice. Appointment to the position can be made without the consent of the Senate. 58-year-old Donilon will leave his post at the end of July.
