The Syrian government troops have been fighting rebels linked to al Qaeda in a regime held Christian village in western Syria, for the second day Thursday as world leaders gathered in Russia for an economic summit that is expected obscured by the possibility of strikes against the US-led Damascus regime. Maaloula Residents said the militants entered the city on Wednesday night. Rami Abdul-Rahman, director of the UK-based Observatory for Human Rights said the fighters were members of Al-Qaeda affiliated group al-Nusra Front Jabhat.
