Hazardous driving situations led to a sequence response of crashes on Virginia’s Interstate 64 as over 60 autos piled up. A number of accidents, starting from minor to life-threatening, have been reported.
Police say the crash occurred round 7:50 on Sunday morning on Queens Creek Bridge, close to the historic city of Williamsburg. Fog and ice made driving situations treacherous, and led to the accident.

Pictures taken on the scene present autos smashed collectively, some piled on prime of each other. Rescue employees will be seen alongside energy instruments used to chop via the twisted steel. Virginia State Police elevated the variety of autos concerned from 35 to 63 by the center of the day.

Police say two victims suffered life-threatening accidents. Each westbound lanes of I64 have been closed as employees started clearing the particles. Detours have been put in place.
One other sequence of crashes have been reported shortly afterwards on the eastbound lanes of I64. Virginia State Police stated on Fb that the eastbound crashes have been brought on by drivers “rubbernecking on the westbound crashes.”
The crash occurred on one of many busiest journey days of the 12 months. The American Car Affiliation predicts report 115 million Individuals will journey between this weekend and January 1, with 105 million of that quantity touring by automobile.
