The stunt occurred in Los Angeles on Christmas Eve in the course of the infamous Skid Row neighborhood, with sizable makeshift camps inhabited by the homeless.

A witness advised KKTV that after leaving the financial institution, the robber instantly “began throwing cash out of the bag after which stated, ‘Merry Christmas!’”
He added that the bystanders picked the cash up and returned it to the teller, whereas the robber sat down inside a Starbucks subsequent door and “waited for the cops.”
