A brand new Turkish navy incursion into Syria’s Idlib governorate has been deliberate and should begin at any second, President Recep Erdogan has warned, ramping up a tense standoff with Damascus.
Ankara won’t “depart Idlib to the Assad regime and its backers,” Erdogan vowed, referring to the Syrian authorities and, apparently, to Russia and Iran. Talking to lawmakers on Wednesday, he stated his phrases have been “a last warning.”
