US Supreme Court docket orders late Pennsylvania mail-in ballots to be put aside & counted individually from total vote tally

A US Supreme Court docket Justice has ordered that mail-in ballots in Pennsylvania obtained after the election day deadline must be segregated and counted individually. President Trump earlier alleged irregularities within the vote rely.

In a brief order on Friday, US Supreme Court docket Justice Samuel Alito dominated that “all county boards of election” should abide by the steerage from October 28 and November 1 that requires all ballots obtained by mail after 8pm on the election day to “be segregated” and saved “in a safe, secure and sealed container separate from different voted ballots.”

Late ballots topic to the ruling might be then “counted individually,” the order states.

Whereas Democrats have till 2pm (1900 GMT) on Saturday to reply to the choice, the order is likely to be seen as a symbolic victory for the marketing campaign of President Donald, which has repeatedly alleged that the counting course of was marred with a number of irregularities.

On Thursday, Trump’s marketing campaign filed a lawsuit alleging that their ballot watchers have been being barred from a counting heart in Philadelphia. 

Trump himself accused Pensylvannia’s electoral officers of carrying the torch for the Democratic Social gathering, saying that “partisan Democrats allowed the ballots to be obtained three days after the election.”
