Naftogaz needs to take Gazprom to arbitration, claiming it’s underpaying for fuel transit to Europe
Ukraine’s pure fuel operator, Naftogaz, plans to file an arbitration lawsuit towards Russia’s Gazprom in July attributable to alleged underpayment for fuel transit to Europe, RIA Novosti reported on Tuesday, citing the corporate’s chief government Yury Vitrenko.
“The phrases of our contract with Gazprom stipulate that we have now 45 days to attempt to resolve our disputes earlier than we will go to arbitration. Subsequent month this era expires and if nothing occurs and Gazprom doesn’t change its place, that can imply that we have now the suitable to use to worldwide arbitration, and we’ll do it,” the Naftogaz CEO was quoted as saying.
Vitrenko claimed that Gazprom is failing to pay sufficient for the volumes of fuel transit that it has booked.
On Could 11, Ukraine suspended the movement of Russian pure fuel to Europe through Sokhranovka, a significant transit level, citing “interference by the occupying forces.” Previous to that, Russian fuel had been flowing uninterrupted by pipelines throughout Ukraine, regardless of the battle.

The Fuel Transmission System Operator of Ukraine proposed transferring all transit to a different entry level, Sudzha within the Kursk area. Gazprom mentioned it couldn’t reroute provides to Sudzha because the reconfiguration can be “technically inconceivable.” The Russian firm famous that it had absolutely met all obligations to European customers, and that transit companies had been paid for.
