The news that in the Tula region have unearthed an ancient Russian city chronicle, immediately flew not only the expanse of our country, but has become famous far beyond its borders. However, archaeologists Museum "Kulikovo Field" are not the first researchers of a fortified city. Divyagorsk located near the modern city Chekalin, located 100 kilometers from Tula. These lands belonged to the Novgorod-Seversky Prince Svyatoslav Olgovich. During the war, the hunt for him began to Chernigov and Kiev princes. Sviatoslav fled in connection with his ally Yuri Dolgoruky. The first layers at the site date from the middle of the first millennium BC – the Iron Age, when in place Divyagorska originated the first village, and after him and other settlements. The fortified town was killed during the civil wars in 1147. The main finding of the archeologists, of course, was Divyagorska Posad, where craftsmen and merchants lived. However, they were found and rare items, showing daily life of city residents: mushroom handle, possibly a knife, a fragment of a bracelet made of glass, women's jewelry, breast cross. It was also found buried seven people, one of them a child. It is assumed that they were all killed during the storming of the city. Their bodies were buried at the bottom of the moat on the Christian tradition – with arms folded. Presumably it was a mass grave of people, but over time the ditch has been completely washed away by water. Excavations will run until August 15, after which the experts come to study findings. At the same time will be set and the total area of the city. All Regional News
